About The Program
The Career Foundation’s Horticultural Technician Pre-Apprenticeship program is contingent upon funding approval. Recruitment will begin February 2019! The program is delivered in partnership with Landscape Ontario and Mohawk College.
Our Horticultural Technician Pre-Apprenticeship for Youth program is geared to individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 who have an interest in pursuing a career in horticulture.
The program runs for approximately 33 weeks (including job placement). Participants receive Horticultural Technician Level 1 Apprenticeship training, along with secondary trade exposure in the General Carpenter trade, in addition to job search and job maintenance training, in order to develop skills for successful employment.
Some safety equipment and tools are also provided prior to a paid work placement component, where students continue their learning in the field. The majority of the training will take place in Hamilton; however, work placements could be in surrounding areas.
There is no cost to participate.
